Dominic J. Yee

Founding Scientific Advisor

Dominic is currently a post-doctoral research fellow with Nobel Laureate Roger Y. Tsien working on new strategies for directing therapeutic and imaging agent delivery to cancer and other diseased sites. He also serves as a mentor and volunteer for education and outreach programs for UCSD BioBridge, the San Diego Science Fair, and the Nanotechnology Research Foundation. Dominic is an energetic bioanalytical chemist interested in applying his knowledge and experience to expedite drug screening, characterization, and evaluation.

Prior to moving to San Diego, Dominic did graduate research under the direction of Professor Dalibor Sames in the Department of Chemistry at Columbia University. He was instrumental in building the Sames molecular imaging program and in 2005 earned the ACS Medicinal Division Fellowship for his work developing novel fluorescent probes and assays for detecting cellular oxidation and reduction processes. As a part of his research, he initiated and maintained a close working collaboration with University of Pennsylvania Professor Trevor Penning, in whose laboratory Dominic spent over a year in, accumulating knowledge and techniques in enzymology and pharmacology for incorporation into the Sames Laboratories.

Dominic has been invited to present presentations at the American Chemical Society, Society for Molecular Imaging, and the Gordon Research Conference for Medicinal Chemistry. He is a co-author on 2 patents and 7 scientific publications in journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
